Some kids are told you can be anything you want, and others are told to be realistic. Some kids are raised to believe that the world is theirs for the taking. Theirs are told to shrink to settle to survive. And it's not because minority kids don't dream big. It's because this country kills those dreams before they ever even get a chance to grow. From the moment black and brown Ankit step into a classroom, the system start stacking the odds against them. Their schools are underfunded, their teachers expect less from them, and their communities are over policed. Instead of invested in. A white kid says they want to be a CEO. People show them how a black or Latino kid says the same. They get told how hard it is, how rare it is, how only a few making. They don't get mentor ship. They get a lecture on how life isn't fair. They don't get resources. They get warnings about how much harder they're going to have to work. Who gets the freedom to dream ? A white kid wants to be an artist. They get private lessons, courage men, exposure, A black ULt ino kit wants the same. That's not practical. You should focus on something stable. One has given space to explore, the other is told to stay grounded. But what happens when they push back black and Brown kids are punished more harshly for acting out in school. They're more likely to be labeled as problems than leaders. They're pushed towards blue collar jobs, Xs, while their white classmates are pushed towards college. The system doesn't encourage their dreams, it chokes them out. And then it has the nerve to blame them for not dreaming big enough. Minority kids don't stop dreaming because they don't have ambition. They stopped because this country doesn't give them the room to believe in possibilities. And yet we dream anyway. Way we fight anyway. He built the spaces and the futures that this country never planned for us to have. And every time we do, we prove that the system never had the right to decide our limits in the first place. Share, believe, inspire blacks be.
