A BLACK WOMAN MAKING HISTORY AGAIN… AND AFTER BEING DROPPED BY NIKE SHE LAUNCHED HER OWN BRAND UNDER ATHLETA!
Allyson Felix, 35, said in April that her training for the Trials had been more challenging than usual.
She has struggled to find tracks to train on in Los Angeles, where she lives, during the pandemic, and much of her focus has been on her two-year-old daughter, Camryn, who is her top priority—and motivation.
The sprinter has been vocal about protecting the rights of athletes who have lost pay during pregnancy, like she did when she was under contract with Nike. (In 2019, Felix signed a contract with Athleta).
Her influence has helped the standards in the industry evolve as well as inspire others to create their own.
Nike dropped her for being pregnant. She came back with her c-section scar to flex on they asses—and she’s headed to the Olympics again (fifth time in a row, first time with her daughter outside the womb), this time wearing her OWN BRAND!
Available now on Athleta.com and in all stores on June 29, are Felix's performance-ready shorts, a sports bra, leggings and tops, in sizes XXS to 3X.
The stylish items are offered in a range of classic and trendy colors, with many of them made from a SuperSonic fabric, perfect for high sweat in low temperatures. The collection ranges from $45 to $109 on Athleta's site.
