Radiant Black Women

In realms where courage and beauty reside,
In the tapestry of life, a shimmering tide,
There blooms a spirit, radiant and rare,
A muse of strength, black women beyond compare.

With grace as their crown, they fiercely stand,
The embodiment of power, a celestial band,
Their melanin kissed by the sun's golden light,
A symphony of hues, a kaleidoscope of might.

Their eyes, deep wells of wisdom untold,
Hold the stories of ancestors, brave and bold,
A lineage of queens, their heritage profound,
Their voices echo through time, a resounding sound.

With each stride they take, the earth bows low,
For they carry the dreams of those who sow,
Seeds of hope, determination, and truth,
Black women rise, breaking barriers with verve.

In their hands, they cradle dreams and desires,
Igniting flames within, setting hearts on fire,
Their essence, a poem written in every line,
Black women, the epitome of divine.

Their laughter, a chorus of joy unconfined,
Melodies of resilience, echoes intertwined,
Their tears, an ocean of compassion and care,
Black women, pillars of love and repair.

In every stage of life, from girlhood to wise age,
They radiate wisdom, an iridescent sage,
Their presence illuminates with a celestial glow,
Black women, celestial wonders we bow to bestow.

So let us celebrate these queens, fierce and bold,
Their stories, like constellations, never grow old,
For in their existence, a symphony takes flight,
Black women, a testament to love's endless might.

"Capitalism and Slavery"

Slavery helped finance the Industrial Revolution in England. Plantation owners, shipbuilders, and merchants connected with the slave trade accumulated vast fortunes that established banks and heavy industry in Europe and expanded the reach of capitalism worldwide. Eric Williams advanced these powerful ideas in Capitalism and Slavery, published in 1944. Years ahead of its time, his profound critique became the foundation for studies of imperialism and economic development. Binding an economic view of history with strong moral argument, Williams's study of the role of slavery in financing the Industrial Revolution refuted traditional ideas of economic and moral progress and firmly established the centrality of the African slave trade in European economic development. He also showed that mature industrial capitalism in turn helped destroy the slave system. Establishing the exploitation of commercial capitalism and its link to racial attitudes, Williams employed a historicist vision that set the tone for future studies.
