we could say a lot about this because we already know how it came out. But what strikes me is the comments in th yahoo version of this story. most of the people are saying that manafort got off because he's rich and this woman didn't. now one could say that if this wasn't a case of black and white . https://theurbandaily.cassiuslife.com/2303386/are-celebrity-tax-evasion-cases-judged-equally/2/. this woman did nothing but vote and got 5 yrs after serving a 3 yr sentence for supposedly tax evasion. same with wesley snipes , whereas steven baldwin was allowed to pay his and have his record cleaned if he paid it all in a certain amt of time. so lets not fool yourselves which I see some of you do when a black celebrity gets off because of something they were percieved to have done wrong. It all comes down to which white ass judge is sitting in judgement playing god because that poor ass mf he, or she , can never have the moines and access to living these people have. and since their white privilege tells them that these black people shouldn't , they give harsh penalties to black people for no reason other than prejudice in a lot of cases. But when it comes to their own pale skinned brothers and sisters, suddenly there is a better judgement made as to what the punishment should be. This is why i tell black people. If you must do a crime , make sure it pays well enough so when these racist bastards sentence you, when you come out you can pick up your marbles and leave, and live comfortably

"They Said This Would Be Fun: Race, Campus Life, And Growing Up"

A booksmart kid from Toronto, Eternity Martis was excited to move away to Western University for her undergraduate degree. But as one of the few Black students there, she soon discovered that the campus experiences she'd seen in movies were far more complex in reality. Over the next four years, Eternity learned more about what someone like her brought out in other people than she did about herself. She was confronted by white students in blackface at parties, dealt with being the only person of colour in class and was tokenized by her romantic partners. She heard racial slurs in bars, on the street, and during lectures. And she gathered labels she never asked for: Abuse survivor. Token. Bad feminist. But, by graduation, she found an unshakeable sense of self—and a support network of other women of colour.
