White SAVIOR films often times make racism more digestible to average white filmgoer.

These films centralize white protagonist who grow and feel better by helping the less fortunate, yet address very little regarding the institutional injustice and systematic racism.

By normalizing the plight or hardship of minority character - who are often secondary - these films are essentially
racism through a digestible lens.

Therapist John Hetterly discusses how these films reinforce and support a system where writers and directors still lack significant reprentation of Women and minorities.

why do you think black movies don't make it in amerika and other countries that have this fucked up idea of white superiority. whenever a series or movie does come out where the black is the lead and smart as hell , the networks kill it with some sham ass ratings. just as they did with scandal and murder she wrote. regardless of what you say , they had 2 strong black women calling the shots and they were rescuing white people from their bullshit. can't have that now can we, so they took them off after 7 seasons of scandal and how to get away with murder. but whiyte shows such as murder she wrote and cagney and lacey lasted 12 yrs. same as any show with a black male lead or any movie with such unless the lead male black is a druggy , gang banger dealer or anything less than civilied, and then they always have a white crime fighter to keep the negros in check and do right
