there has been a lot of talk about what we can do to get reparations. there has been a lot of talk about remembering the tragedy of Black Wall Steet in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I have not seen very much talk about rebuilding our legacy.
About 5 years ago, I made a decision on what to do in my career path. I make music and publish original content videos. In order to be prosperous, I knew that I would have to handle business and financial matters because I do not trust major labels. I switched from Information Technology to Business Administration. I took classes thinking that in the end I would be able to establish myself as an entrepreneur. I found out, along the way, that there are no classes that promote entrepreneurship. Instead, there is a push for intrapreneurship (use your skills inside of another company to help them while you create multiple streams of income). I was not satisfied.
After I secured my Associate's Degree in business, I received a phone call. A carpenter I worked for wanted to start an insurance agency. At the time, I knew very little about the workings of insurance. I agreed to spend time at his office and get licensed. I learned a lot in those claesses. Particularly, I focused on how trust funds and estates have given the white population an edge in America.
I give you this information because I am tired of hearing about how the government, the queen of england, or whoever owes us something. If they handed out reparations checks right now, the cost of living would go up. Why does that matter? Black people are known for being the vital source to keep the capitalist market going. If we have checks in our hands, are we going to buy new cars from dodge or clothes from ralph lauren?
We should be revitalizing our neighborhoods (ummah). We should be fortifying our families (shaeb). We can do that without a check from the government.
In the 1950s, Black America banded together and began to boycott white businesses. Why? Not just because they were white. Black America had businesses that catered to Black people. People post all of the time about how two Brothers invented the design for the automobile. Ok. Let's make a factory that can outshine Tesla. Our people take too many pharmaceuticals. We need more herbal shops. We can't get loans. We should start our own banks again. Not enough insurance coverage...start our own insurance companies. Start our own relief systems.
We can do this. We should do this. Some have started already. Let's keep building!!!
