Religion cannot stop xenophobia as Bahamians show hate for Jamaicans and Haitians.
This video is disheartening to watch and shows how Black people have a very long way to go to achieve racial unity. He speaks in Jamaican dialect but what he says all should hear and beware of our failures as a people.
This man is a Jamaican living living in the Bahamas along with his wife and children. He is deeply religious but in the aftermath of the recent #hurricane that devastated the multi-Island nation, he is witnessing something more terrible than the hurricane itself. Bahamians are not only reveling in the deaths of #Haitian migrants, (perhaps close to 1000. No one knows for sure because the government refuses to count Haitian deaths) they are seeking ways to starve and drive the survivors out.
The situation is shaking his faith because not only is he hearing disgusting sentiments about Haitians from his fellow Christians, even the preachers are encouraging hatred too. In fact, hate sentiments are even being tossed toward him as a Jamaican for coming to the Bahamas and living off the benefits of their "blessed" nation.
He is a businessman and his wife is a doctor but he vows to leave the #Bahamas as soon as possible because as he puts it, god will surely return with another hurricane to destroy these devil minded Bahamians.
