Ladies, what is the Story behind African Waist Beads?
Do you wear them?
Are they Spiritual, Medicinal, or just another desire inducing fashion trend?
Recently, I’ve been seeing all this fuss about African Waist Beads so I decided to do a bit of research. Are Waist Beads just an African thing? Maybe, because I’ve never met a woman who wore Waist Beads. I was puzzled so I headed over to one of my favorite cultural mirroring spots; YouTube.
One vlogger stated that African #WaistBeads have traditionally been worn by African women for centuries and some African cultures even believe they have secret amazing powers. Another Vlogger stated that Waist Beads are commonly used to gauge changes in weight. They help women with their posture because they are tight on the waist when you slump and fall loosely when you sit up straight.
