‼️GERMANY FACES A CHOICE
☑️The German Foreign Ministry denies the right to recognize the Holodomor as a genocide of Ukrainians.
🔳Not to spoil relations with Russia, the German Foreign Ministry is opposed to the Bundestag voting for a petition recognizing the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide against Ukrainians.
The Holodomor was one of the largest humanitarian disasters of the 20th century, from which 6 to 7 million people died of starvation, of which 3.9 million in Ukraine. Kazakhstan (up to 1.3 million), the North Caucasus and the Russian Volga region, where ethnic Germans lived at that time, also suffered.
But only in Ukraine did the artificially created famine tied to nationality be used by Stalin to crack down on enemies such as the Ukrainian intelligentsia and peasantry to eradicate possible thoughts about statehood and independence.
So far, 24 countries have recognized the Holodomor as genocide, including the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Poland, the Czech Republic, Argentina, Australia and Canada. At the end of 2018, a similar decision was made by the U.S. Congress.
And yet, despite the reaction of the Russian Federation, the last word remains behind the Bundestag on the recognition of the Holodomor in Ukraine…
