Concerned Citizens Urge US to Withdraw 'Imperialistic' Threats Against Nigeria

Abuja, Nigeria — A wave of concern and condemnation has erupted from civil society organizations (CSOs), political commentators, and citizens across Nigeria following recent threats from the United States, including a possible cutoff of aid and military action. The threats, stemming from allegations that the Nigerian government is failing to adequately protect Christian communities, have been widely criticized as "misdirected, misadvised, and imperialistic."

Criminal Banditry: Mass kidnappings and extortion affecting all communities.

According to a prominent legal scholar, the US threat is a classic example of framing a multi-dimensional conflict solely in religious terms, which risks undermining Nigeria's sovereignty and internal efforts to manage the crisis.
