💔 NEVER LET GO – EPISODE TWENTY THREE: “For The Sake Of Ivy”
Jessy was one of Stanley’s ex girlfriends, a woman who had once lived in the mansion and endured more humiliation than most people could bear. She was fearless, stubborn, and shamelessly persistently in love with Stanley and would do anything to keep him. Even after Stanley had dumped her months before meeting Ivy, she remained emotionally glued to him. She firmly believed that one day he would look at her the same way he looked at Ivy.
Mrs Grace paid Jessy a large sum of money to return to the mansion and help them distract Stanley long enough for him to forget Ivy. Although Jessy declined the money and said she would gladly do their bidding without payment, they still forced her to accept it. Jessy later accepted the offer eagerly. Deep inside her, she saw the payment as an opportunity to reclaim what she believed Ivy had stolen from her.
Despite the hostility between them, Jessy had always wanted Stanley. Even after he shouted at her, ignored her, insulted her, and hurt her physically several times, she continued to cling to the hope that he would one day love her back. She cooked his meals. She washed his clothes. She decorated his room with flowers she thought he liked. She sprayed his perfume whenever she passed by, imagining she was wrapped in his scent. She even wrote him small love notes and hid them under his pillow.
But Stanley rejected every attempt. He trashed her notes. He poured away the meals she cooked. He never thanked her for anything.
One night, Stanley retired to his room after spending long brooding hours outside. His mind was filled with memories of Ivy. Her smile. Her voice. The way she held him. The way she believed in him. He sat at the edge of the bed and rubbed his forehead, feeling his heart burn with pain he did not know how to heal.
Jessy watched him from the corridor. She had been monitoring his every movement ever since she returned to the mansion. She felt tonight was her chance. She believed she only needed to get close to him, touch him, and remind him of the intimacy they once shared.
So she entered his room confidently.
When Stanley looked up and saw Jessy closing the door behind her, his expression changed completely. Shock, anger, and confusion filled his face.
"What is the meaning of this? Are you completely shameless? How can you walk into a man’s bedroom when you have no business being here? What if I was naked or indecently dressed?" he asked furiously, and Jessy chuckled naughtily.
"Oh please, Stan, naked? Seriously? Why do you talk like we've never been together or made love before? Besides, watching you naked turns me on and makes me wild. I've missed your strong arms on me and the way you used to say you loved me. I've missed the way you..."
"Enough! Stop saying this nonsense because it's not even going to work on me. My body is dead to every woman and only alive for my Ivy, no matter what you or anybody thinks of doing. So right now, I want you to get your stinking self out of my bedroom. I hate repeating myself if you know the kind of man I am," Stanley warned in a fit of rage. Jessy was not threatened. She giggled softly and walked closer to him.
"Come on babe. When did I suddenly become a stranger to you? What does that Ivy have that I do not have? She could be a pretender for all I care. Look at me very well and see the whole package I'm made of," she said, turning around seductively. Stanley was only extremely irritated and was trying very hard to control the waking beast in him. Jessy pouted at him shamelessly and continued,
"I heard you once shared this bedroom with her even though the both of you were not married. Guess what? I have come to take over where she stopped. Allow me to make you feel like the real man you are. Stop being less of yourself and man up with me, I don't mind at all," Jessy said and gave him a mischievous smile.
Stanley froze, and his eyes turned cold and dangerous.
The moment Jessy mentioned Ivy, he felt as if poison had travelled through his veins.
"For the last time, leave this room before you see the real me," he warned in a dangerously calm voice.
But Jessy was too confident to read the signs. Too foolish to know when to call it a quit.
"Stan, stop acting like a child. Ivy has dumped you already. The same way you change us like clothes. Karma has finally found you. Who knows? Maybe she's in the arms of another man right now having the best moment of her life while you're here getting worried for nothing. But forget that for now. Let me make you relax. Let me wipe her memory away. You deserve comfort and I am here to give it to you," Jessy said and touched his face.
That was the final strike. Something exploded inside Stanley.
Before Jessy could take another breath, Stanley delivered a thunderous slap across her face. She fell helplessly on the bed, completely stunned. Before she could rise, he unbuckled his belt and began to lash her with uncontrollable rage.
Jessy screamed. She tried to shield herself with her arms, but the belt descended her skin repeatedly. She begged him to stop, but her voice only fueled his fury.
"You dare speak Ivy’s name and disrespect her like that? You dare say she's in the arms of another man? How dare you utter that rubbish? No man can ever have her except me. Ivy is mine and mine alone forever!" Stanley shouted as he whipped her again and again. "I warned you! I warned you to leave!"
Jessy tried to crawl away, but Stanley grabbed her by the arm and shoved her back on the bed with unbelievable force. His grief had consumed him completely. Every strike was driven by the pain of losing Ivy, by the torment of her absence, and by the disrespect Jessy had just thrown in his face.
Mrs Grace and her daughters heard the screams and rushed toward the room. The sound of the lashes terrified them. When they entered, they froze.
Stanley was standing over Jessy with the belt raised. Jessy was now ableeding, shaking, crying, and struggling to breathe.
Mrs Grace screamed and rushed to grab the belt.
"Stop it! Stanley stop it!" she cried.
"Do not interfere! This girl must die today!" Stanley roared. "She disrespected Ivy. She insulted her memory. She said my woman is in the arms of another man," Stanley ranted furiously.
Mrs Grace held the belt tightly while Nkechi and Bianca ran to Jessy, who seized the opportunity and escaped from the room with her swollen bruised skin already turning red.
The girls followed her, horrified by the sight of her injuries.
Mrs Grace felt defeated and sat beside him.
"I know you love Ivy, but you must listen to me," she said gently. "Your life has come to a pause since she disappeared. You barely show up at the company. Investors are asking questions. Our partners are beginning to worry because they no longer see stability around you. And you know how sensitive business leadership is. People want to see a man who has his life in order, someone who is emotionally balanced. Stanley, you need someone beside you. Someone who can help you stay grounded, focused, and stable again."
Stanley said nothing. His chest rose and fell slowly.
Mrs Grace continued softly, "I am not asking you to fall in love with another woman. I am asking you to regain your balance. The company needs a strong public image, and whether we like it or not, your personal life affects how people treat our name. You need companionship. You need support. You need to show the world that you are still capable of standing on your feet."
Tears gathered in Stanley’s eyes again.
"I cannot let her go. I see her everywhere. I feel she is alive. I feel she needs me. I just love her too much," he whispered helplessly.
Mrs Grace placed a hand on his back.
"I understand," she said quietly. "But please, think about what I have said. If you break down completely, everything we have built will crumble with you."
With that, she slowly stood up and left the room, leaving Stanley drowning in thoughts he could not escape. He lowered his head on the bed, drowning in thoughts and emotions that refused to let him breathe.
