Chapter ❤️ 44

Xiyang ~

“Where is she?” I asked the moment I stepped into my doom.

“She is inside,” the guards replied, pointing toward the d4rkest room at the far end of the corridor.

That room…

It was where h4rdened cr!minals br0ke.

Where scr£4ms echoed even after the doors were shut.

Whoever dared to frame Aria would surely pay the price.

If I wanted to uncover the truth within two days…

Then I had no choice but to use methods people f£4red whispering about.

When I entered the dark room, Mei-Ling was already there…hands t!ghtly b0und, eyes bl!ndfolded.

Her body trem bled uncontrollably, curled like a frigh tened animal trapped in a c4ge.

“Who’s here…? Let me go! Untie me!” she scr£amed, her voice cracking with térror.

I walked toward her slowly and removed the blindfold.

“Y…Your Highness!” she gasped once her eyes adjusted.

“My Prince… please save me. These thugs abdu¢ted me… please help me!” she cr!ed desperately.

I gestured for a chair to be brought and placed directly opposite her

Sitting down calmly, I leaned closer.

“If I wanted to save you,” I said coldly, “why the h£ll would I bother bringing you here?”

Her face drained of color immediately..

“Let’s make this simple,” I continued.

“Because trust me… you’ll hate the d4rk side of me.”

“I didn’t do anything! Please let me go!” she begged, shaking v!0lently.

“You said you didn’t meet Aria yesterday..,”

“My guards saw you with her. Why did you lie before the king?!” I snapped, slamming the table hard.

“No! I wasn’t ly!ng! I swear!... I don't know anything.. please spare me.” she s0bbed.

“Still lying…” I shook my head in annoyance.

“ I don't have time to waste with you… so let's get this done with..” I Untied her hands.

“How about we play a game?” I asked.

“A… a game?” she whispered.

I grabbed her left hand and placed it flat on the table.

“The rules are simple,” I said, locking eyes with her.

“I ask questions. You answer correctly…you leave unharmed.”

I paused, spreading her fingers apart.

“But if you lie… then I'll…. Chop up one finger in return.”

I pulled a d4gger from my leg and sl4mmed it between her f!ngers.

Her scr£am tore through the room.

“Why are you scr£4ming?” I smirked.

“I haven’t even cút anything yet.”

“Now First question,” I said coldly.

“Did you meet Aria yesterday in my chamber?”

She hesitated… then nodded.

I smiled…finally she's telling the truth.

“Second question,” I continued.

“Did you give Aria that scarf?”

Sweat poured down her face. Her entire body sh00k.

“ANSWER ME!” I r0ared.

“YES!” she screamed.

“I gave her the scarf! But I had no choice!”

“They thr£4tened to k!ll my brother if I didn’t cooperate,” she cr!ed.

“I did it to save him… please forgive me!”

“Who?” I asked.

She inhaled deeply, voice bréaking…

“It was Ms. Xiao… she was working together with…” he hesitated.

“With who?” I demanded.

“…Ms. Liu-Qing.” I confessed.

For a moment, everything went silent.

I wasn’t expecting Liu-Qing to sink this low.

She had crossed a line she would never return from.

I released Mei-Ling’s hand and leaned closer.

“You will walk out of here unh4rmed,” I whispered.

“You will pretend nothing happened. And you will never tell Xiao Li or Liu-Qing that you confessed.”

“Are we clear?”

“Yes… yes!” she sobbed.
“Please don’t let them hurt my brother.”

“Relax,” I smiled d4rkly.

“As long as you cooperate… he’ll be safe.” I smile mischievously.

This is going to be fun.

….

After leaving the doom, I headed straight for the Queen’s chamber.

I heard Liu-Qing had been staying by her side since after the banquet.

When I entered, the maids bowed…

Liu-Qing also greeted me softly.

I wanted to sl4p her.
Drag her to h£ll with my b4re hands.

But I remained calm.

She is the general’s daughter…

Mei-Ling’s confession alone wasn’t enough.

I had to let her fall… willingly.

“Greetings, Empress,” I said without bowing.

Prince Xiyang never bowed to her…and she knew why.

What she did to my mother was unforgivable.

“Prince Xiyang visiting personally… something must have happened,” the Queen replied.

“I came to check on you.. and i can see that you're doing pretty well,” I said smoothly.

“The doctors are excellent… Mei-Ling has also been attentive taking care of me.. no need to worry my son,” she said with a f0rced smile.

“What the f*ck are you doing here?” Yìchén’s voice snapped from behind.

I turned and saw him standing at the door.

“Brother,” I smiled. “You’re here too.”

“You didn’t answer me,” he gr0wled.

“I came to check on your mother. Is that f0rbidden?” I raised an eyebrow.

“Now that you’ve seen she’s fine…get the f*ck out,” he snapped.

“Aren’t you busy defending the one who h4rmed her? .. you don't need to pretend you care.” he added m0ckingly.

“Aria is innocent,” I gr0wled.

“let's see how far you can defend her…you've only a day left… I doubt she'll even survive till then.” he smirk.

“What the hell do you mean by that?” I grab his collar… the queen gasp.

“She touched jinson oil,” he laughed.

“That flower that produce the oil is p0isonous. Without the antidote… d£4th is guaranteed.”

“That’s ridiculous!” I sh0uted.

“Didn't you say she's innocent…Then why are you worried?” he smiled cruélly.

“By tonight, rashes will cover her body… ..those rashes would spread the p0ison through her entire body system…faster than a shooting star..and by tomorrow...”

“She’ll be dead.” he laughed out loud.

“You imbec!le!!” I pun¢hed him, bl00d spilling from his n0se.

“You claim to love her and yet wish her d34d?” I hissed.

“She doesn’t love me anyways..,” he snarled.

“She even h4rmed my mother. Why should I care?”

“We are all going to loose her brother… no matter what you do, you cannot save her this time. Because the cure to that p0ison is very rare to find.”

“There’s only one antidote,” he continued.

“ but It’s locked in the treasure hall. You’ll never reach it.”

“I won’t let anything happen to Aria,” I spat.

“I’m done listening to your filth.”

I turned to leave…then paused.

Liu-Qing was sweating…
F£4r written all over her face.

“That’s it,” I smirked.

“Fall into my trap.” I thought to myself and Left the manor.

I still had one day left.

And I need to make sure everything went according to plan.

To be continued…
