The Black Alliance for Peace Africa Team Condemns the Israeli/U.S. Effort to Destabilize Somalia with the Recognition of Somaliland | Black Agenda ReportThe Shadow of Imperialism: Israel's Recognition of Somaliland Exposed

As we navigate the complex web of global politics, it's essential to stay vigilant about the machinations of powerful nations. Recently, a disturbing development has come to light, threatening the sovereignty and stability of Somalia. The Black Alliance for Peace (BAP) Africa Team has shed light on Israel's recognition of Somaliland as an independent state, a move that is nothing short of a brazen attack on African unity.

At its core, this decision is not just about recognizing a new nation; it's about undermining the fragile state of Somalia and destabilizing the entire Horn of Africa. The BAP Africa Team has aptly pointed out that Israel's actions are in lockstep with those of the United States, demonstrating the depth of their partnership in perpetuating imperialism.

Somalia, strategically located on the Horn of Africa, has been a target for decades. Successive US administrations have used the guise of fighting terrorism to justify military interventions and drone strikes, leaving a trail of destruction and displacement in its wake. The second Trump regime took this aggression to new heights, conducting over 100 attacks in 2025 alone – an unprecedented number compared to previous administrations.

But what's even more insidious is the racist demonization of the Somali population in the United States. Trump's vile rhetoric against Congresswoman Ilhan Omar and his characterization of all Somalis as "garbage" are not coincidental; they're part of a deliberate campaign to dehumanize an entire people. This toxic narrative has been amplified by Israel, which sees the Somali people as pawns in its game of regional expansion.

Israel's ultimate goal is to gain a foothold in the Horn of Africa, specifically on the Bab-al-Mandeb strait bordering Yemen and the Ansar Allah forces. By recognizing Somaliland as an independent state, Israel aims to create a puppet regime that will serve its interests. But this move goes beyond mere geopolitics; it's also about ethnic cleansing. Israeli officials have long expressed their desire to relocate Palestinians from Gaza to Somaliland – a plan that has been met with international condemnation.

The BAP Africa Team is right to condemn Israel's actions as an attack on African sovereignty and unity. The people of Somalia, including those in Somaliland, have protested this aggressive intrusion into their affairs. But it's not just about Somalia; this move threatens the stability of the entire region. If successful, Israel's recognition of Somaliland will incite long-standing grievances within fractured Somali society and continue the destabilization of that country.

The Black Alliance for Peace is calling on all anti-imperialist forces to join the US Out of Africa Shutdown AFRICOM campaign. This movement seeks to end all US/NATO/Israeli interference in African affairs, a goal that aligns with the BAP's commitment to African self-determination. The existence of an Israeli puppet state would be a threat to millions of people in Somaliland and one more weapon used against a continent still struggling for freedom.

As we stand in solidarity with the people of Somalia and the Black Alliance for Peace, let us remember that imperialism is not just about borders; it's about power. It's time to expose the shadow of imperialism and challenge those who seek to exploit and oppress our communities. We must join forces to demand an end to US/Israeli interference in Africa and to support the self-determination of African nations.

The Time for Action is Now

We can no longer afford to ignore the machinations of powerful nations. The recognition of Somaliland by Israel is a stark reminder that imperialism still lurks in the shadows, waiting to strike. But we have the power to resist; we have the power to demand change.

Join us in calling for an end to US/Israeli interference in Africa and in supporting the self-determination of African nations. Together, we can create a brighter future – one where our communities are free from oppression and exploitation.

The struggle continues...
