Crew 12 Brings New Energy to the International Space Station
The arrival of Crew 12 has boosted the ISS's crew numbers back to seven, allowing research in the U.S. segment to resume its normal pace and enabling spacewalks to be staged as needed. NASA Managers Attempted to Launch Crew 12 Sooner
Initially, NASA managers had attempted to launch Crew 12 as early as February 11 to minimize the time spent with only three crew members on board. However, conflicts with work on the Artemis II moon mission and high winds along the ascent trajectory forced a delay until Friday's successful launch.
Crew Members Express Gratitude and Excitement
In a radio transmission after docking, Jack Hathaway expressed the crew's gratitude for joining Expedition 74 and contributing to the ISS's story. The new crew members are eager to resume research activities and participate in spacewalks as needed.
The arrival of Crew 12 marks an exciting new chapter for the International Space Station, bringing fresh faces and expertise to the orbiting laboratory. As the ISS continues to serve as a hub for scientific research and exploration, the addition of these four astronauts will undoubtedly contribute to its success.
