Victim Identified as Jy'Kavien Wright
Jy'Kavien Wright, an 18-year-old from Talladega, Alabama, was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering a single gunshot wound to the head. According to eyewitnesses, police responded promptly to reports of a gunshot victim in the early hours of May 31st, but unfortunately, their efforts were unable to save the young man's life.

Recent High School Graduate
Wright had recently graduated from Talladega High School as part of the Class of 2026, just days before the shooting. His death has left a void in the school community, with many still reeling from the news. 'He was an outstanding student and an even better person,' said a classmate, who wished to remain anonymous. 'His passing is a tremendous loss for our school and community.'

Investigation Underway
The Talladega Police Department has launched a homicide investigation into the incident, working closely with crime scene technicians from Jacksonville State University's Center for Applied Forensics to process evidence. The body was sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for an autopsy as part of the ongoing investigation.
