“When the People Are Ready, the Vision Finds Its Home”
Many people are wondering why so much of my energy and posts are centered on Africa. The truth is, since 2009, I’ve been working to empower economically marginalized people here in the U.S.—particularly those on social safety net programs—to unite, pool their existing resources, and build collective wealth from the ground up. This vision was called the United Shared Savings Network. All it truly needed was people power—the belief that working-class and low-income communities could organize, invest together, and create shared ownership without waiting for permission or handouts. But here in America, we’re deeply conditioned to believe in the myth of trickle-down economics… and deeply afraid to challenge it. Some of the biggest barriers?
• Fear of losing hard-won welfare benefits
• Worry about government backlash if poor communities organized to raise capital
• Doubt that large groups of everyday people could cooperate to build and fairly share wealth.
While these concerns were real, I believed they shouldn’t have been roadblocks to pursuing economic independence, liberation, and a better future for our children.
What troubled me most was this: Wealthy white investors did see the vision—and wanted in. But their terms were clear: they’d bring capital and political clout to ease regulatory fears… in exchange for controlling the profits, ownership, and direction of the project. “We invest for maximum return, not social good,” they said. And they assumed that if they led it, poor communities would jump on board without question. I made the hard decision to walk away. Because for me, this was never about money—it was about dignity, self-determination, and justice. Today, that dream is still very much alive. I’ve evolved the model into something stronger: Cashback Invest Global—still rooted in community ownership, still centered on those left behind, and now with a global lens. Africa hasn’t replaced my commitment to America—it’s where the readiness, trust, and collective spirit to build this vision right now have met opportunity.
