Florida Man Arrested for Attempting to Grope Female Detective During Transport

Video shows Florida man arrested for sexual battery attempt to grope female detective during transportA disturbing incident has unfolded in Florida, where a man already facing charges for sexual battery is accused of attempting to grope a female detective while being transported to a correctional facility. The shocking behavior has left authorities and the public alike reeling, raising questions about the safety and security of those in custody.

Man Accused of Attempting to Grope Female Detective
Steven Rivers, 30, was being transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Wednesday, January 28, when he allegedly attempted to grope a female detective. According to eyewitnesses, Rivers, who was already in handcuffs and facing charges for sexual battery, reached behind his back and tried to grab the rear end of the detective as she held open the door for him and the officers escorting him.

Additional Charges Filed Against Rivers
As a result of this incident, Rivers now faces additional charges of attempted sexual battery causing no serious personal injury, battery on a police officer, and resisting an officer without violence. These new charges come in addition to the existing allegations of sexual battery and robbery by sudden snatching related to an attack on Florida Memorial University's campus.

Rivers' Troubling History
This latest incident has shed light on Rivers' disturbing history, which includes a previous conviction for lewd and lascivious behavior in Palm Beach County. He had been released from the Florida Department of Corrections just last December after serving time for this offense. Authorities have expressed concern about his potential danger to the community, particularly women in Miami-Dade County.

Bond Increased Amid Concerns
At a bond court hearing on Thursday, January 29, Judge Mindy Glazer increased Rivers' bond to $505,000 in connection with the sexual battery case involving the student and $5,501 in the second case. The judge's decision reflects growing concerns about Rivers' behavior and his potential threat to public safety.

The incident has sparked a wider conversation about the need for increased security measures and protocols when transporting individuals in custody. As authorities continue to investigate this disturbing case, one thing is clear: the safety of those in custody and the community at large must be prioritized above all else.
