Southland College Prep Celebrates Historic Achievement with 100% College Acceptance Rate
In a remarkable display of academic excellence, Southland College Prep Charter High School has achieved an unprecedented milestone - every single senior in the Class of 2026 has been accepted to college. This achievement marks the 13th consecutive year that the school has reached this impressive feat, solidifying its reputation as a model for college readiness and student success.A Record-Breaking Achievement
With an astonishing 100% acceptance rate, the Class of 2026 has shattered previous records. A total of 135 seniors will be crossing the stage at graduation, each with a college acceptance letter in hand and a combined $54 million in merit- and need-based scholarships. This achievement is not only a testament to the school's commitment to academic excellence but also a reflection of the students' hard work and dedication.
Top Colleges and Scholarships
The Class of 2026 has received acceptance letters from over 1,300 colleges nationwide. Notably, seven students have been awarded full-ride scholarships to California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo, while four students were accepted into Washington University in St. Louis, with three receiving full-ride scholarships. These impressive achievements demonstrate the school's ability to prepare students for top-tier institutions.
A Legacy of Excellence
Southland College Prep has earned Exemplary designation from the Illinois State Board of Education in six out of the past seven years, placing it among the top 10% of schools statewide. This year, the school ranked 11th out of 712 schools in Illinois. The Kwarteng family, alumni of Southland College Prep, have established a scholarship initiative to support students in their pursuit of higher education.
A Year of Historic Firsts
The Class of 2026 has made history across academics, arts, and athletics. A team of seniors captured the school's first-ever IHSA Short Film state championship with the award-winning production Soul Music. The Speech Team won its fourth state championship in Performance in the Round, while the choir earned gold recognition at the World Heritage Festival in New York.
