Huston-Tillotson Baseball Team Heads to NAIA Tournament
The Huston-Tillotson University baseball team has secured a spot in the prestigious NAIA Tournament, marking a significant milestone for the program. After falling short of winning the HBCU Athletic Conference tournament championship, the Rams have extended their season into May and will compete against top-notch teams from across the country.NAIA Tournament Bound
The NAIA Tournament is set to begin on Monday, May 11, with Huston-Tillotson facing off against other top teams in the regional Opening Round. The Rams will learn their destination and opponent on Wednesday, May 6, when the NAIA airs its selection show at 4 p.m. on YouTube.
A New Era for HT Baseball
This marks a significant achievement for the Huston-Tillotson baseball program, which has not competed in postseason play since 1998. Under the direction of fifth-year head coach Chase Almendarez, the team has shown remarkable growth and determination, winning 30 or more games for the first time this century.
Standout Players Shine
Several players have made a lasting impact on the season, including senior transfer Weston Bailey, who was named to the all-conference First Team and earned accolades as Newcomer of the Year and Pitcher of the Year. Other notable players include Ethan Walker, Payton Johnson, Noah Alvarez, Josh Wilk, Trey Garza, and Tucker Allen.
