Mama Tina's Gumbo Reopens at Houston Rodeo After Brief Shutdown

Mama Tina’s Gumbo Reopens at Houston Rodeo After Brief Shutdown by Health DeptThe aroma of Mama Tina's famous Creole gumbo wafted through the air once again, bringing joy to thousands of visitors at the Houston Rodeo. But just a week ago, this beloved food booth was temporarily shut down due to health concerns.

A Family Recipe with a Rich History
Mama Tina's Gumbo has been a staple at the Houston Rodeo for years, thanks to the family recipe perfected by Tina Knowles, mother of Beyoncé and Solange. The gumbo booth first opened near the Ferris wheel on March 2, and it quickly became a favorite among rodeo-goers. With its rich, flavorful taste, it's no wonder why fans flocked to try a bowl.

A Brief Shutdown, But Not for Long
On March 16, the Houston Health Department temporarily shut down the booth following a complaint investigation. However, officials praised Mama Tina's staff for fully cooperating and addressing the concerns. The next day, the booth reopened, and visitors returned in droves to enjoy their favorite gumbo.

A Lesson Learned: Compliance with Health and Safety Rules
Rodeo organizers took this opportunity to remind all vendors of the importance of complying with health and safety rules. With the inspection passed, Mama Tina's Gumbo continued serving through March 22, keeping the family recipe at the center of the rodeo experience.

The reopening of Mama Tina's Gumbo booth is a testament to the power of hard work, dedication, and compliance with regulations. As visitors continue to enjoy this beloved food staple, it serves as a reminder that even in the face of challenges, perseverance and cooperation can lead to success.
