Abuja, Nigeria—Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has publicly celebrated the release of her brother, Samuel Ojeogwu, popularly known as Sammy West, who was granted bail on Monday by an Abuja Magistrate Court after several days in detention.
Sammy West was arrested and charged with criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, intimidation, and theft following a petition reportedly filed by the actress's estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.
"One Battle Down," Says Daniels
The news of the release was confirmed by Daniels herself on her Instagram page on Tuesday, where she shared an emotional video expressing relief and gratitude.
"And my brother is out. So, one battle down," she said joyfully in the video.
The actress used the moment to reflect on the "love and support" she received during her brother's detention. "See, the kind of love I received this period makes me emotional. I feel good," she said, thanking her fans and well-wishers for their solidarity.
Bail Details and Next Hearing
Sammy West was arraigned on November 6, 2025, after being arrested in Lagos and transferred to Abuja on the authority of an arrest warrant.
Bail Amount: The Abuja Magistrate Court granted bail set at ₦5 million.
Legal Representation: The bail was secured by a legal team led by human rights lawyer, Marshal Abubakar.
Adjournment: The matter has been adjourned to November 28 for further hearing.
The police had previously stated that the charges stemmed from a petition received on October 28, 2025, against Ojeogwu and three others, alleging the crimes mentioned above. The arrest and detention occurred amid weeks of public exchanges and reports concerning marital disputes between Regina Daniels and Senator Ned Nwoko.
