The work on conspiracy theories, such as that done by Gary Webb Dark Alliance (1998), or Patricia Turner I Heard It Through the Grapevine (1993), served the purpose of exposing the possibility of government involvement in cocaine flooding the United States. This scholarship also gave insight into how the government contributed to the presence of crack cocaine in the Black community. However, there is an apparent void in the research in this regard from these authors, specifically Gary Webb’s Dark Alliances publication in 1998 until 2010. This gap in research on the government’s involvement is problematic since crack cocaine’s presence and impact is still felt in the African American community. My research expands on the work of Turner and Webb, as I continue to examine the affect the government’s possible connection to drugs being placed in black communities. https://d.lib.msu.edu/etd/685/datastream/OBJ/download/The_Charisma_of_Crack_Cocaine___The_Impact_of_Crack_on_Black_America__198
