📍 MY THOUGHT FOR TODAY
By: Tyrone Thomas
Quitman, Georgia—our small, rural town where over 70% of us are Black. Many of us are family, by blood or by bond. So why is unity still so hard to come by?
I recently shared ideas on how we could build collective wealth right here at home. Not a single like, comment, or share. That silence? It speaks volumes. We’re still battling the mindset that was planted in us generations ago—a mindset that keeps us divided, indifferent, and stuck.
This isn’t about blame. It’s about accountability. We’ve got to stop normalizing the idea that “Black folks don’t support each other.” We’ve got to challenge the “crabs in a barrel” mentality and start building something better—together.
This message isn’t anti-anyone. It’s pro-healing. And while the global struggle between the haves and have-nots is real, our unique challenges as Black people require solutions that come from within.

What’s one thing we can do—right now—to start supporting each other more in Quitman and beyond? Drop your thoughts in the comments. Let’s build something real.
