We can’t get into all the details just yet, things are still unfolding, but here’s what we can say: staff from Musk’s “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) have been trying to assert more control inside federal agencies, especially within the Interior Department. Some information has leaked about the resistance inside the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), where veteran staffers are pushing back and telling them to kick rocks.
DOGE recently told the Supreme Court they’re not an official government agency, just advisors to the president. Why does that matter? Because it means they don’t have to respond to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. The Court agreed, at least for now, meaning DOGE isn’t required to release any documents to the public about what they’re doing.
If they claim they have “no authority,” we’ll gladly hold them to that. The American people deserve transparency not secret backroom control.
