Katt Williams and Miles College Team Up to Revolutionize Film Industry with AI and AR Training
A New Era of Film Production
The partnership will establish a production campus at Fort McClellan, a former army base in Anniston, Alabama. This state-of-the-art facility will feature two sound stages equipped for virtual production and immersive sets, providing students with hands-on experience in cutting-edge technology. The initiative also includes a scholarship fund tied to Williams' production company, Kemet Movie Works, which will create internships and training programs for Miles College students.
Preparing Students for the Future
Miles College President Bobbie Knight emphasized the importance of preparing students for a technology-driven media landscape. 'There are a lot of jobs right now that in five years won't be in existence because of AR and AI, and we want to make sure that our students are equipped with the tools they need to operate in that world,' she said. Williams echoed this sentiment, stating, 'Most of the entities that are in the moviemaking business had to fear AI because of what that means. But fortunately, we were able to lean into instead of leaning against.'
A Local Economic Boost
The project is expected to bring jobs and economic activity to the region, with local officials and residents expressing enthusiasm for the initiative. Anniston resident Doretha Walker said, 'You saw what Tyler Perry did in Atlanta. So if we can have anything remotely like that here, bring in jobs just revitalize the economy will be great.' The partnership is a testament to the power of collaboration between industry leaders and educational institutions.
Katt Williams and Miles College's innovative partnership marks a significant step forward for the film industry. By providing students with cutting-edge training in AI and AR, this initiative has the potential to revolutionize the way movies are made and create new opportunities for talented individuals from underrepresented communities.
