Texas Southern University Crowns New Mister and Miss TSU

TEXAS SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY CROWNS NEW MISTER AND MISS TSUIn a celebration of excellence, Texas Southern University (TSU) has crowned its new Mister and Miss TSU. Zyias Richards and Carmon Alexis Nelson-Grimes, two outstanding student leaders, have been chosen to represent the university as ambassadors during its Centennial year.

Student Leaders Excel in Pageant
The annual Mister and Miss TSU Scholarship Pageant saw four young women and three young men vying for the top spots. The contestants were judged on their talent, interview, question-and-answer session, and formal wear. Richards, a junior majoring in Radio, Television, and Film with a minor in Entertainment Recording Industry Management, was named the 25th Mister Texas Southern University.

Richards' Platform Focuses on Servant Leadership
As Mister TSU, Richards aims to bridge the gap between student leadership and servant leadership. He emphasizes advocacy rooted in community impact and selflessness. 'If someone doesn't believe in you, believe in yourself, because once you believe in yourself, you give people something to believe in,' he said.

Miss TSU Grimes is a Trailblazer
Joining Richards as the 79th Miss Texas Southern University is Carmon Alexis Nelson-Grimes. A junior Marketing major from St. Louis, Missouri, Grimes is deeply engaged on campus. She is a two-time member of Campus Pals, mentoring incoming freshmen, and an active participant in HER TSU, promoting women's empowerment.

The crowning of Richards and Grimes marks the beginning of their journey as ambassadors for TSU during its Centennial year. With their commitment to servant leadership and community impact, they will undoubtedly inspire their peers and make a lasting impact on the university.
