Lone Star College-Montgomery Students Shine at Region 6 American College Theatre Festival in AbileneIn a remarkable display of talent and dedication, students from Lone Star College-Montgomery (LSC-M) made their mark at the Region 6 American College Theatre Festival in Abilene, Texas. The festival, held from February 20-24, brought together colleges and universities from across the region to celebrate excellence in theatre arts.

Outstanding Performances
Eight LSC-M students earned prestigious regional honors, scholarships, and professional recognition for their exceptional talent and contributions to the craft. Among them were Garrett Smith and Peyton Waites, who were semifinalists for the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship, and Carlos Avila, who was a finalist in the Musical Theatre Initiative.

Awards and Recognition
The students' outstanding performances earned them numerous awards and recognition. Brayden Ayers took home the award for Best Actor in the 10-Minute Play Festival, while also receiving the Monologue Slam Participation Award for contributing multiple original monologues.

Impact on Students
According to Chase Waites, LSC-Montgomery Theatre Professor, participation in the Region 6 American College Theatre Festival has a significant impact on both the program and its students. 'It gives them the opportunity to see work from colleges and universities across the region and to realize they are part of a much larger theatrical community,' he said.

Future Plans
The festival also served as a vital bridge for many students, helping them transition to four-year programs. Michael Clark, who is preparing to transfer to Texas State University, noted that the connections he made at ACTF helped him recontextualize his approach to theatrical design and direction.

The outstanding success of LSC-Montgomery students at the Region 6 American College Theatre Festival is a testament to their hard work and dedication. As they continue to pursue their passion for theatre arts, it's clear that these talented individuals will make a lasting impact on the industry.
