In 2025, the Alabama Collective led a transformative initiative known as "Innovation Power Hours," an annual series designed to bridge educational gaps through virtual engagement with experts. Focusing on innovation challenges and fostering collaboration, this series was particularly impactful at historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) across the state.

The Initiative's Purpose

Black PR Wire Inc., a leading media firm for Black communities, joined forces with the Alabama Collective to host this initiative. With five HBCUs participating in fall 2025, the series aimed to equip students with hands-on experience through immersive events, preparing them for future opportunities and opportunities of inclusion.

The Series: A Hands-On Journey

The Innovation Power Hours series started in September 2024. Each HBCU presented a unique set of workshops covering various innovation themes. For instance, one college featured a session on AI/ML advancements, another focused on sustainability challenges through case studies, and others explored ethical dilemmas in data-driven decision-making. Guest speakers from other institutions provided insights into emerging fields, while interactive workshops allowed participants to apply problem-solving strategies.

Students engaged with professionals at multiple levels, fostering valuable networking opportunities.
