(BPRW) DALLAS BLACK DANCE THEATRE LAUNCHES SEARCH FOR NEXT EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR | Black PR Wire, Inc.A New Chapter Unfolds for Dallas Black Dance Theatre

As we step into a new year, the Dallas Black Dance Theatre (DBDT) is embarking on an exciting journey. After a unanimous decision by the Dallas City Council to restore funding, the theatre has launched a search for its next Executive Director. This pivotal moment marks a significant milestone in the institution's 50-year history, and we're thrilled to share the details of this transformative process.

A Proactive Approach

In response to the recommendations made by an independent advisory task force comprising civic, business, and nonprofit leaders, DBDT has taken a proactive approach to ensure its continued success. The theatre is committed to finding the right leader who will not only maintain but also elevate its mission and serve the community for generations to come.

A Five-Member Committee Takes the Helm

Led by Chairman Jack Skinner of the Dallas Black Dance Theatre Governance Committee, a five-member committee has been formed to oversee this critical search process. This esteemed group includes two external members with extensive experience in arts management and organizational leadership: Kim Noltemy, President & Chief Executive Officer of the Los Angeles Philharmonic; and Dr. Zannie Giraurd Voss, recently retired as Director of SMU DataArts.

A Wealth of Expertise

The committee also comprises three members of the DBDT Board of Directors: Christopher Plumlee, Founder and President of Elevate Strategies; Paulette Turner, founder of Integrated Leadership Concepts Inc.; and Jack Skinner himself. This diverse group brings a wealth of expertise in arts management, leadership development, and organizational growth.

Guidance from a Renowned Expert

To provide additional guidance and support throughout the search process, DBDT has enlisted the expertise of Michael M. Kaiser, Founder and Chairman of the DeVos Institute of Arts and Nonprofit Management. As President Emeritus of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Kaiser brings invaluable experience as an Executive Director of renowned institutions such as the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, American Ballet Theatre, and the Royal Ballet and Opera.

A Legacy of Excellence

Founded in 1976 by Ann Williams, DBDT has established itself as a leading force in contemporary modern dance. With a mission to create and produce performances that bridge cultures and reach diverse communities, the theatre has become the largest and oldest professional dance company in Dallas. Its impressive track record includes performances at prestigious venues such as Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, Broadway, Jacob's Pillow, and Joyce Theatre, as well as appearances at three Olympics.

A Bright Future Ahead

As DBDT embarks on this new chapter, it's clear that the theatre is committed to its mission and dedicated to finding a leader who will propel it forward. With a proactive approach, a talented search committee, and expert guidance from Michael M. Kaiser, we have no doubt that DBDT will continue to thrive and inspire audiences for generations to come.

In conclusion, this exciting development marks an important milestone in the history of Dallas Black Dance Theatre. As we look to the future, we're reminded of the power of arts and culture to bring people together and transcend boundaries. With a new Executive Director on the horizon, DBDT is poised to continue its legacy of excellence and make a lasting impact on the world stage.
