"New Year's 2026 goals will involve reflecting on past achievements and setting new targets for the future."
Embracing a New Year with Gratitude and IntentionAs we step into the new year, it's natural to feel a mix of emotions – excitement for the possibilities ahead, nostalgia for the memories we've made, and perhaps a hint of uncertainty about what lies in store. For many of us, the start of a new year is an opportunity to reflect on our progress, re-evaluate our priorities, and set fresh intentions for growth.
In this spirit, I'd like to share with you my own reflections on the past year and the goals I'm carrying into 2026. As someone who values connection, consistency, and gratitude, I've been thinking a lot about how to nurture these qualities in my life.
A Year of Reflection
Last year was a time of transition for me and my family. We settled into our new home, explored our community, and began to establish routines that brought us joy. Looking back on my 2025 goals, I'm proud to say that many of them were achieved with varying degrees of success.
In the realm of family intentions, we found a wonderful church community and made a conscious effort to prioritize quality time together through game nights and movie nights. We also planned an incredible trip to Scotland, which created lifelong memories for our children. While there were some areas where we fell short – such as tracking expenses more closely – I'm grateful for the progress we made.
In terms of financial intentions, tidying up our bank accounts was a significant accomplishment, and I'm proud of my husband David for taking on the task of categorizing expenses with QuickBooks. We also discovered a local organization that resonated with us, although we could have done more to support them.
Health-wise, I learned about homeopathic remedies, grew some of our own food, and went on many hikes (although I still have room for improvement in this area!). Sharing my health interests through blog posts was an intention that didn't quite come to fruition, but I'm looking forward to exploring this topic further in 2026.
Consolidating and Refocusing
As I reflect on the past year, I realize that I was so eager to plug into our new community and establish routines that I spread myself too thin. While it's wonderful to have many interests and pursuits, I've come to understand the importance of consolidation and focus.
This year, I'm feeling a sense of contentment and gratitude for all that we've accomplished. I'm proud of my family for adapting to our new surroundings and making meaningful connections with others. However, I also recognize that there's always room for growth and improvement.
2026 Goals: A New Chapter
As I look ahead to 2026, I'm excited to share some of the goals I've set for myself and my family. These intentions are centered around connection, consistency, and gratitude – values that have become increasingly important to me over the years.
One of my primary goals is to personalize our home, making it a warm and welcoming space that reflects our unique style and personality. This will involve focusing on one room at a time, starting with the living room, and incorporating elements that bring us joy and comfort.
Another key area I'm focusing on is connection – both online and offline. I want to strike a balance between sharing my favorite chatty posts and providing more helpful content from my experiences as a health coach, mother, and traveler. This will involve experimenting with new formats and styles to engage with you, my readers, in meaningful ways.
In the realm of personal growth, I'm eager to learn new skills – particularly pressure canning, which has been on my radar for some time! I also want to deepen my faith by joining a Bible study or volunteering at our church. Giving back to our community is essential to me, and I'm excited to explore ways to get involved.
A Year of Possibility
As we embark on this new year together, I invite you to join me in reflecting on your own goals and intentions. What are the areas where you'd like to grow, learn, or connect more deeply? How can you prioritize gratitude and consistency in your life?
Remember that setting goals is not about achieving perfection; it's about embracing the journey, learning from our mistakes, and celebrating our progress along the way. I'm honored to share this journey with you and look forward to seeing what 2026 holds for us all.
