CHAPTER ONE
(Emergency ward at the hospital)
Oh lord please! protect my wife for me, Mr Francis prayed silently as he continued walking back and forth in front of the emergency room looking restless and worried.
AHH, ahhh!!----, His wife screamed from inside with so much pain in her voice, he could feel the pain in her voice as tears started trickling down his cheeks.
He immediately wiped them off with the back of his palm, and rushed to the window of the room, trying to see if he could see his wife but the window was well covered with a good lining from inside. Frustrated and confused he went back to where he was sitting before.
A few minutes later, a nurse came out of the room with a tray of used cotton wool stained with blood.
Mr Francis' heart skipped immediately, when he saw the contents of the tray the nurse was holding.
“Nurse please, is my wife okay?” he asked, rushing towards the nurse but mistakenly missed a step and almost fell, but thanks to the sole of the snickers he was putting on, which were gripping well to the tilled flour.
“Calm down sir, you almost injured yourself, your wife is doing well” just that she is having a stillbirth but she will soon be put to bed” , she assured him.
Before Mr Francis could comprehend what she told him, the door of the room his wife was giving birth inside burst open with his wife being pushed out of the room on a bed with four nurses, two at both sides, moving in a fast paced way towards another room.
Mr Francis rushed to the side of the fast moving bed trying to comfort his wife but was held back by a nurse from obstructing their movement.
The next thing that was heard was the slam of the room door she was transferred to as they were shut.
( 1 hour later)
Mr Francis has already dozed off in the chair, he was sitting as he started dreaming of where they were celebrating the naming ceremony of their new born baby, when a tap on his shoulder brought him back from the dream world to reality.
“Mr Francis, the doctor wants to see you in his office”, the nurse from earlier informed him .
“What for please” he asked, trying to clear off the remaining sleep from his eyes while yawning.
Are you not Mr Francis whose wife just gave birth” the nurse asked, surprised.
Wh—----------, where is the doctor's office? He stammered a bit , jumping up from where he was sitting as he remembered the situation at hand.
The second door by your left hand side sir, she directed him and left.
(At the doctor's office)
“Yes come in" doctor Cyprian said to Mr Francis who was at the door.
Have your seat sir, offering him a seat. You are Mr Francis if I'm not mistaken he asked while adjusting his lenses.
Yes I'm Mr Francis, he replied, trying not to make his worries too obvious by putting on a bit smile
“Congratulations Mr Francis your wife has safely delivered a bouncing baby boy” shaking Mr Francis the doctor announced.
“Praise the lord, hallelujah —--, hallelujah—-” Mr Francis let out a loud shout without minding if he was disturbing the vicinity.
(Come and see what the lord has done for me —----, he started singing)
Sorry Mr Francis but this is not actually the main reason why I called you, the doctor said to him, making him stop half way of the song he was singing.
“Don't worry doctor, I will go look for a way to get the remaining balance of the fees,” I'm so happy and excited after four years of waiting, Mr Francis assured the doctor with a smile on his face.
No that is not the problem here, I actually called to let you know that we —----------
